Although the Cuatro does not come in a huge variety of shapes, sizes, and weights, like other instruments, we still need to know its parts, as some of them might vary depending on the construction process and manufacturer:

The main parts of the Cuatro are:

  • Fretboard
  • Tuning Peg
  • Nut
  • Head
  • Soundhole
  • Heel
  • Frets
  • Bridge
  • Bridge Pins

The Soundhole of the Cuatro is very particular, as it always should measure the same diameter and be about the size of the five fingers together.

Another curiosity of the Cuatro is that the head has two holes and the pegs are usually facing the back, compared with a Ukulele where the head is solid and the pegs are facing sideways.
