To play the rhythm of Onda Nueva, you should be able to execute the escribillao at a high level and the rhythm of Joropo Llanero.

Onda Nueva has certain particularities you must be aware of. In the next video, we will demonstrate how to do so slowly at first and then we will pick up the pace with respect to the tempo.

The pattern that must be followed is:

  • Marking downwards right hand
  • Left hand down
  • Up and down right hand
  • Left hand down
  • Up and down left hand
  • Escobillao right hand
  • Up and down left hand
  • Escobillao right hand
  • Down right hand

Notice that after the last escobillao it is necessary to immediately play the downwards accent with the same hand to complete the bar. Afterwards we can proceed with the next bar as of the “Left hand down” and continue with the remainder of the sequence.

Ensure that you practice this constantly so that you can execute this at the necessary tempo. After having done so, try it as is demonstrated in the following video.
