The very first thing you’ll need to do when starting to play the Ukulele is to tune your instrument. In this lesson, we will teach you how.
Once you know the notes for each string, you can use various methods to tune your Ukulele. The most common method is to use an electronic tuner, which will give you an accurate and precise reading of the pitch of each string. You can also use our Tuner App or even tune your Ukulele by ear using a reference note from another instrument or a piano.
Tuning your Ukulele
First, listen a compare each string with the sound produced by this Ukulele:
If your Ukulele is tuned, each string will have the same sound. If not, then you would need to tune each string by following the pattern shown in the following video:
1st string: G
2nd string: C
3rd string: E
4th string: A
Tune the 1st string by matching the sound produced in the video when the string is played. Then tune the second one by pressing the 1st string at the 5th fret. Tune the 3rd one by pressing the 4th fret of the 2nd string. Lastly, tune the last string by pressing the 2nd fret of the 1st string.
