Third Basic Progression: IV – I – V – I

The last progression is an inverse progression very useful when playing Choruses in Parang Songs.

We’re basing our chords using this structure for an example scale in D major:

D-major-chord-I-IV-V-progression

So in this third progression, we will use the same notes but the order will vary, as we will start with IV instead of I.  the four notes that we are going to play in order are:

  1. G
  2. D
  3. A7
  4. D

This third progression is extremely useful as is used in almost every chorus part of almost every Parang song.  Let’s see some examples using IV – I – V – I:

Let’s practice this progression!
