In this lesson, you will be taking a look at the Tonic, Subdominant and Dominant chords relative to A Minor. Changing between these chords can be a little complicated, but we simply recommend for you to play the progression in order until you know it by heart. To spice things up a bit, you can start off by playing the progression of I – IV – V of the relative major (C Major) and then switch over to playing the A minor progression of I – IV – V. Just by doing this you give a great ring to your Cuatro.

With these chords and the rhythm of Joropo Central, you will be able to play the following Joropo Pajarillo in A Minor. This is one example of what can be done with these chords.

Assignment

We previously asked you to upload your assignment relating to the I – IV – V – V progression using C Major. Now you can do the same, but this time with the A Minor. For those of you who wish to make it more interesting, you can record 4 measures one using the above-mentioned progression using a joropo of your choice and alternate between C Major and A Minor. This is essentially a complete piece. Demonstrate your progress and upload your video.
