If the next note is on the string where the pick is resting after a rest stroke, the pick moves downward without being raised. Transfers to the other lower strings are also done without raising the hand, essentially what is done is we skip over a string or two. In case the music is slow or the interval between the two notes is long, the pick can be raised to adjust timing. In this course these kinds of pickings are shown as follows:
Take close notice of the ways in which this technique should be applied and how it should not be applied (marked with an X). This is very important and may seem like something simple, but once you begin to apply and merge the techniques together, this will become an important factor.
