It is considered that there are three different styles concerning the segundeo. These are the style of Anselmo López where the middle finger is mainly used sometimes mixing the index, that of Ismael Querales where only the index is used and that of Hector Hernández where only the pick is used. My style is based of Ismael’s Querales’s style. Furthermore, there is a style without any segundeo all together. The segundeo technique is originally invented to apply to the Joropo Llanero. In contemporary performances of the Bandola Llanera often music of other genres is played and it is very normal not to apply segundeo technique.
